The lessons are intended for musicians who have completed the beginner level piano class, those who already have a good foundation in piano and/or are interested in deepening certain concepts and techniques. This intermediate level class continues exploring piano works written by the great masters from the four major periods of Western Music: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century. The repertoire chosen for the lessons is more challenging both technically and musically. The student is required to become more familiar with each composer’s biography, historical events and circumstances under which chosen pieces were composed. As well as learn about general tendencies in other forms of arts in order to understand and differentiate the performing styles required for each historical period. New technical elements will be introduced together with practical methods to conquer each challenging element. The main focus will be to teach a student to practice consciously, to listen, to hear what is happening in the music and to learn how to perform it in an engaging way. Gradually students will have a good amount of intermediate repertoire under their belt, with a broad spectrum of musical and technical knowledge to help them advance and play the most famous masterpieces in world piano literature.
